Free Course – Pure Photographic ’special Effects’ Without a Computer or a Darkroom!

The following is just the text from the free course on ’special effect’ photography – THE MAGIC LANTERN

It was the accidental chance projection of a slide, without having the screen in place that resulted in a portrait appearing partly on some fabric and partly on the wallpaper. The curved fabric distorted the image and when the picture was clearly focussed the weave and texture of the materials forming a type of screen became part of the portrait. This was sufficiently intriguing to leave the projection as it was and to study the possibilities of this occurrence.

If this effect could be photographed, then one can photograph projected images on other textures or even on other Read the rest of this entry »

From Heroes to Zeroes: Creator Tim Kring Apologizes for Season 2

Yes, Heroes indeed grabbed the spotlight earlier this year when they first aired its sophomore season. It was so brilliant that it earned more than just viewer uproar, but also an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. In fact, NBC was sharing in the limelight, until Heroes entered its second season, which never lived up to what the show was really all about.

Entertainment Weekly recently talked to Tim Kring about his show gone awry, and he admits that his creative team had “made a mistake.” Thank God!

So let’s outline this for those who don’t know. Mistake number one was that the show just literally dropped whatever happened in season one Read the rest of this entry »

Flat Screen Televisions How do you decide?

Flat screen televisions are somewhat like religious symbols to what that is right with life in America. If you really think about it, it actually makes sense. Well, maybe that’s a fairly strong statement. In any case, whenever I find myself near a flat screen television, I almost get an overwhelming sense to kneel down and pray. Those TV are truly awe inspiring devices. How do they ever make them that thin? It truly is amazing.

As you know, flat screens TV’s are advertised for having a far better picture than conventional CRT TV’s or tube TV’s. It definitely is true. The resolution of flat screens is quite remarkable, and of course, they Read the rest of this entry »

Breaking News – Lost to End in 2010 and Three More Shortened Seasons

Two months ago, ABC has announced that Lost has been renewed for a fourth season. Following this, ABC Entertainment president Stephen McPherson has announced that Lost will come to an end during the 2009-2010 season with a highly anticipated finale. With an average of 15 million viewers per episode, many Lost fans will most probably deem this news as something very disappointing.

Citing the words of Lost’s executive producer Damon Lindelof, he has “always envisioned Lost as a show with a beginning, middle, and end,” and that declaring that the Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning serial drama is ending would imply that viewers would soon have some comfort of knowing that many unanswered questions and mysteries will finally be Read the rest of this entry »

Heroes finally ended with a cliff hanger last night, with a whole new set of questions we are all dying to answer. First of all, who shot Nathan Petrelli? We could vaguely see that it’s a white man with dark hair, but there’s a lot of those on the show so no luck. Next, Niki was trapped in a building that exploded. Now is she dead or alive? She’s pretty much a vital character, and a hot one at that, so hopefully she walks. What will happen to Micah if and when she dies? Will he grow up with no parents at all? Would it turn him rebellious? Moreover, what happened to Angela Petrelli? Is she evil for keeps? And Read the rest of this entry »

Trivia and Online Trivia Games For Your Mind

When television started becoming popular, the first shows were all trivia related shows. Shows like Beat the Clock and Twenty-One were the focus of audiences in America. Quiz shows attracted viewers with the large cash prizes and the reactions of the winners.

Around 1957, many quiz shows were exposed to be fake, as a result, they disappeared altogether for a while. Jeopardy was introduced in 1964, and restored peoples trust in game-shows. There were all kinds of new rules and new limitations on prize money. In short, it was ensured that the game was being played fairly. Think about this, when it comes to home games, and television game shows, the common thread is the trivia aspect.

Lost and the Writers’ Strike

Lost has done it again. The highly watched show is slated to return in February, and unlike the other new shows, Lost won’t be affected too much by the ongoing WGA writers’ strike. This gives ABC an opportunity to dominate ratings once the airwaves run out of new shows to air. Most scripted shows only have enough material to take them into the new year, which is when everything will come to a stop and reality TV will dominate our small screens. However, that is not the case for Lost as they have eight scripts finished and six episodes currently being filmed. Therefore, they will be indeed dominating the era of drought for scripted television.
