“An apple a day takes the doctor away”

This famous saying we are all familiar with, comes very close to truth when it comes to adding a bottle of apple cider vinegar to your medicine cabinet.

Even though you will not be munching on a crunchy and sweet Red Delicious but rather drinking a sour, acetic acid vinaigrette, the benefits will greatly outweigh the bitter frown you will make when you first give it a try.

Apple cider vinegar has been around for centuries and has been accounted for healing many minor to major health ailments. More and more people are ready to provide testimony on its effectiveness.

Alcohol has been used for many things for many generations, maybe even as far back as prehistoric times. Alcohol has both positive and negative effects. It can also improve appetite and assist in the digestion process.

On the negative side, however, alcohol is known to cause mood swings, aggression and perhaps most familiarly, hangovers. Chronic consumption of alcohol and alcohol abuse can increase the risk of cancer, stroke, heart and liver disease.

Alcohol is unlike most foods in the sense that it is not digested. More than 90 percent of it is absorbed Read the rest of this entry »

“Que Sera, Sera, Whatever will be, will be.”

Great words of wisdom from a timeless song. These are words that sing true because they are so important to being happy. Each day we have is a day we should be thankful for. Not because tomorrow may be our last, but because living in the moment is a true blessing.

Though there is no sin in making plans for the future we can focus too hard. We begin only living for the future and the worry that comes with that while forgetting to take pleasure in the moment we are in. In a sense, we lose the trees for the forest. The big picture is important, but Read the rest of this entry »

Things to consider when choosing a personal fitness trainer who fits your personality

One person’s brilliant, motivating trainer who really gets results can be another person’s mean bully who reduces them to tears.

Think back to your schooldays. There were some teachers who were inspiring and succeeded in encouraging you to aim high and do your best. Others tried too hard to be everyone’s friend. They didn’t punish you for not doing your work – so you didn’t bother to do it! And then there was the strict one who frightened you so much that you didn’t dare ask questions or admit you couldn’t understand something.

Fortunately, there’s one big difference between personal trainers and schoolteachers – you get to select the one you can work with best.

First of all, decide exactly Read the rest of this entry »
