10 keys to living a long and happy life – Part 2

The keys to living a long and happy life are mine my experience. After having lived for more than half a century, what I have found is that there are indeed keys which help us to become better people and to make our lives long and happy.

*Awareness of self.

You have to know and like yourself to find happiness. It is a fundamental rule in life that helps you to better relate to others and also accept your own destiny. Liking yourself is half of the battle, and being aware of your own weaknesses and able to work on making them a less predominant part of your character helps you to achieve happiness.

*Awareness of others.

You should never put your own needs Read the rest of this entry »

Essential first aid kit supplies for your home – Part 10

Every house, workplace and building should have at least one first aid kit for every twenty five people in the dwelling. First aid kits ensure that medical treatment can be given while waiting for the proper medical authorities to asses the situation.

There are many products which can be included in any first aid kit, however to ensure that I do not go through all of them as this would take to much time, I shall instead concentrate on the basic supplies that should be included in all first aid kits.

The first and most important supply that should be included in all first aid kids, is a first aid manual. A first aid manual will list what should be done in Read the rest of this entry »

Should a visit to the doctor be so difficult – Part 1

Since the beginning of January, I have been hobbling along with an injured knee. I had always assumed I had injured it in a yoga class, as that was the first place I was when I had experienced having any pain. I continued practicing, thinking I was just tight and only needed some more stretching. After about a month or so of increasing soreness, I decided to discontinue the class and give my knee a break. After another 3 months and a fortune in knee-braces, I decided I had better get this checked out. So at the recommendation of my dear friend, I called the best looking orthopedic surgeon in the valley! Since every wounded woman within the state of Read the rest of this entry »

Guidelines for healthy living – Part 4

Walk the Healthy Path … Before It’s Too Late

We’re a lazy society. I’m a victim of it, too.

Our lackadaisical attitudes and actions began umpteen years ago along with the invention of the calculator, and have spiraled downward from there. Next, we’re going to have mechanical devices that will lift us out of bed so we don’t spare any additional energy by turning and placing our feet on the ground. Those who know me best are aware of my drawn-out explanation of this topic … for the others, I’ll spare you the boredom.

Many advances in technology have led to nothing more than sheer laziness. Take a good look around. For the most part, the overweight are only getting heavier and Read the rest of this entry »

Living for today but what about tomorrow? – Part 50

My to do list is always on my mind. .I start my morning with the essentials, cleaning, shopping and getting the kids together for the day. And then inevitably the things that end up at the end of my list are the ones that are closest to my heart. I put off living my dreams for another day. Instead of doing one thing a day to follow my own personal dreams, I do laundry or get an oil change.

I have realized that if tomorrow never comes all I will have to say for myself is, she did a lot of things that in the end never matter. That is not how I want to be remembered. I want to be Read the rest of this entry »

Essential first aid kit supplies for your home – Part 8

There are many needs and uses of a first aid kit but the most important is to be able to apply basic health aid to an injured person. With that being said, there are quite a few items that are essential for a first aid kit and then there are others that might only be used once in a lifetime. The first step for building the perfect and essentially sound first aid kit is to find a box with compartments to hold the essentials.

After finding your box, now known as your kit, there are the primary staples of a first aid kit. The most essential piece is going to be the adhesive bandage(band-aid) and you are going Read the rest of this entry »

How to get kids to eat their vegetables – Part 1

How often have you given your child vegetables at dinner time only to find them being pushed around their plate or worst still being thrown on the floor or hidden under the chair cushion or in a pot plant?. Here are some great little tips and tricks to get your kids to eat vegetables.

Make a big pot of vegetable soup, puree it up and then add some alphabet noodle shapes. With a little luck your kids will be too busy spelling words, or looking for the letters in their names to notice all the veggies they are eating in the soup.

Add grated carrot, zucchini and chopped mushrooms to hamburger patties. I did this recently to bulk up a small amount Read the rest of this entry »

How to stock your first aid kit – Part 7

The FIRST AID KIT is something most people don’t bother to think about until it’s needed. By then it is too late to discover some useful piece of equipment has been used and not replaced or was never included in the first place. The time to inventory the first aid kit is before you need it.

Every person living in the household should at least know where the first aid kit is stored. Competent adults should be familiar with the use of all contents.

Minor children can begin basic training in applying first aid but it should be stressed that they should ALWAYS be supervised. Many things in a first aid kit can be harmful if not fatal if used improperly.

Best cities to live in the US – Part 1

The best cities to live in the US are San Francisco, Washington (D.C.) and Dallas.

First and foremost, all three cities are the hubs of great population regions in the United States. San Francisco is part of the population belt between Seattle, home to Microsoft and Starbucks, to Southern California, a long-time bastion of defense and media corporations. In addition, San Francisco also serves the computing companies in nearby San Jose, Nevadan casinos and Arizonan electronics company. Washington, serving not only as US’s federal capital, also serves as the center of a great urban megalopolis from the great universities of New England to the tourist, financial and services companies in the South. Dallas serves San Antonio, Houston and Oklahoma City, all Read the rest of this entry »
